A devastating wave of Russian drone and missile strikes has claimed the lives of at least 15 people across Ukraine, marking one of the latest escalations in the ongoing conflict that has gripped the country since Russia launched its full-scale invasion in February 2022.
The attacks targeted multiple locations across Ukrainian territory, continuing a pattern of Russian aerial bombardment that has repeatedly struck civilian infrastructure and residential areas throughout the war. Ukrainian emergency services and officials worked to respond to the aftermath of the strikes as the death toll was confirmed.
The assault came as the conflict entered yet another brutal chapter, with both sides continuing to exchange aerial attacks across the front lines and deep into each other's territory. Russia has consistently deployed waves of Shahed drones alongside ballistic and cruise missiles in coordinated overnight strikes designed to overwhelm Ukrainian air defenses.
In a separate development, Ukrainian drone strikes reached Russian territory, with officials reporting that two children were killed in the attack. The deaths of the young victims represent a tragic dimension to the conflict that has increasingly seen civilian casualties on both sides of the border.
The war, now stretching well beyond its third year, has resulted in tens of thousands of casualties and the displacement of millions of Ukrainian civilians. International organizations continue to document widespread civilian harm as both nations sustain aerial campaigns against one another.
The international community has repeatedly called for a ceasefire and a diplomatic resolution to the conflict, though peace negotiations have so far failed to gain meaningful traction. Western nations continue to supply Ukraine with air defense systems and other military equipment in an effort to help the country withstand the relentless Russian aerial campaign.
