About NewsWhite

NewsWhite publishes analysis of technology and science news. We are not a wire service and we do not break stories. What we do is take developments reported by others and explain what they mean — the background, the pattern they fit into, and what is likely to follow.

What we cover

Technology and science, and deliberately nothing else. Software and artificial intelligence, the companies building them, the policy being written around them, and the research that underpins all of it. We previously published across every category of general news; that was a mistake, and those pages have been retired.

How an article is made

Every piece starts from reporting done by another publication — outlets such as TechCrunch, Ars Technica, The Verge, Wired and MIT Technology Review. We credit that outlet by name in the article and link to their original report. The facts belong to them and we say so.

The analysis around those facts is written with AI assistance, working from the reported summary, and then published under editorial rules that forbid inventing quotes, statistics, dates or events. We would rather say this plainly than let a reader assume otherwise. Our editorial standards page sets out exactly what that process may and may not do.

What we are not

We do not have reporters, we do not conduct interviews, and we do not claim first-hand knowledge of the events we write about. An article here is commentary on someone else's reporting. If you want the original account of what happened, follow the source link — we put it on every page for that reason.
